Romania completed their third consecutive 3-0 victory in the Nations League before a large following of their own fans in Larnaca.
On this basis they should have no problem gaining promotion from Group C2.
Guided by the ageless Mircea Lucescu they were a level above the hosts, particularly the likes of Dennis Man and Razvan Marin.
Driven on by around 5,000 of their own supporters, Romania soon took control led by their hardworking frontman Denis Dragus.
The first, early, goal came after a break by Razvan Marin that eventually resulted in a close range conversion by Dennis Man within the initial 16 minutes.
Then after Mihaila was brought down in the area the same Marin (now joint top scorer in Group C) stepped up to deliver the spot-kick convincingly past Nita in the Cypriot goal for 2-0.
The match was then effectively decided, on 37 minutes, when a Man left foot delivery was headed in by Tottenham’s defender Radu Dragusin.
In response the home side did produce some useful crosses but the Romanian combinations had always looked threatening to score.
Into the second period, and after a series of changes, Sofronis Avgousti’s team pushed more men forward while Lucescu brought on Ianis Hagi and George Puscas.
But although the Cypriots had a lot more play, including a couple of headed efforts, it was the visitors who got the ball in the net (only to be ruled out by VAR)
And it was the visiting fans who would travel home content with what they had seen.
Overall Romania confirmed their status as a side surely destined to return to a higher level of the UEFA Nations League.
